About Sarah R. Chase
Sarah Chase LAc MAcOM holds a masters degree from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM). She is NCCAOM and NADA certified, and practiced in China and India in 2005-2006. She is pleased to bring the knowledge and experience she gained back to the U.S and into her practice.
Sarah is dedicated to providing health care for people of all walks of life. She has structured her practice with varying payment plans so that nobody is turned away. As acupuncture survived the cultural revolution in China, for the very reason that it is a cost effective way to treat masses of people, Sarah sees no reason why acupuncture and oriental medicine should be only available to the elite few in this country. It is a simple, enjoyable, and effective way for people to take control of their health and well being. This medicine has the power to change the way we live our lives, and therefore, the power to change the current trends of disease on the planet. In keeping with the root perspective that the human is a microcosm of the larger macrocosm that is that universe; this medicine indeed has the power to bring health and healing to the entire world. Like the meridians, activated with one acupoint, the necessary changes on the planet happen through activation of one person at a time.
At OCOM, Sarah studied with Chinese and American practitioners such as Liu Gouhui, Roger Lore, and Hiener Fruehauf; renound in both countries for their clinical success. OCOM has created a reputation for itself by being the first school to establish a doctoral program and is rated in the top three schools for Chinese medicine in the US. Throughout the four year program, Sarah studied the theory and principles of Chinese Medicine, learned how to treat patients using acupuncture, acupressure, moxibustion (moxa), massage, and Chinese herbs; extensively studied the body from a Western medical perspective, performed over 700 treatments, and observed hundreds more. After completing the masters program, she studied in China under the teachings of masters like Liu Lihong, Wang Qingyu, Yang Yishen, and Yang Yaomin. She lived and worked in Jiangxi province and studied in Sichuan, Yunan, and Beijing. During that year (2005-2006), Sarah also traveled to India where she volunteered at a cooperative acupuncture clinic and western medical facility in Ananda Nagar, West Bengal.
